Mountaineers Get Much-Needed Win over Texas and Have New, 5-Year-Old Recruit to Thank for It

The West Virginia University men's basketball team has a letter of intent from one of the best in-state prospects - and he's just five years old. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation, Nicholas Wince will be able to become a Mountaineer for life.

WVU heavily recruited Nicholas because of his high effort, high energy, and love of the University. The soon-to-be six-year-old boy (March 2) was diagnosed with a hypoplastic left heart early in life, which is a potentially life-threatening condition. After spending a day with the Mountaineers as they prepared for a showdown with the Texas Longhorns, his mother Kristen said it's a day he'll never forget.

"He wants to have a Mountaineer birthday party," she said. "So he's taking all of the stuff that he's gathered here--and they've been so good about gifts, and they've given him all kinds of things--that we're going to take back and try to incorporate into his birthday party, but I'm pretty sure I'm never going to be able to touch this."

He also got to take part in the pre-game shoot around. Click HERE to read the rest of this great story from WDTV.
