Paws and Claws 5K Run/Walk to Benefit Humane Society

By Trina Runner on September 19, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The Harrison County Humane Society will hold its First Annual Paws and Claws 5K Run/Walk on September 27, with check-in at 7:30 and the race beginning at 9:00.  The mission of the Humane Society is to reduce unwanted pet overpopulation by supporting spaying and neutering.  Fundraisers such as this allow them to provide for the needs of the facility and ensure the safety of the animals.

“We are a non-profit organization and count on fundraisers to help with our mission of finding homes for unwanted and homeless animals,” said Joanna Fleshher of the Harrison County Humane Society, the organization sponsoring the 5K.  “Proceeds from the Paws and Claws 5K will go toward housing, feeding and vaccinating animals in our care.”

The course starts and finishes at Bridgeport High School track, weaving through residential areas in between. There will be traffic delays. Runners High will be the official timer this year, with runners’ times starting at 9:00 and walkers a few minutes later.  The event is $20 if you pre-register and $25 the day of the race and the first 100 pre-registered participants will receive a free race t-shirt.  More information can be found at www.hshcwv.org
