Bridgeport's hopes to advance back to Wheeling Island for the school's 10th football state championship remained alive thanks to a 42-7 win against Robert C. Byrd in a Class AA quarterfinal playoff game at Wayne Jamison Field this evening.

Jake Bowen rushed for more than 250 yards and the BHS defense held the Eagles in check.

The win moved the No. 3-ranked Indians to 11-1 on the year and marked the second win of the season against the Eagles. Robert C. Byrd, ranked sixth, ends their season at 9-3.

Bridgeport won a regular season battle in week five. The Tribe rallied in that game for a 41-35 victory and what allowed them to have homefield advantage for tonight's contest.

The Indians will play the winner of Saturday's No. 7 Keyser game at No. 2 Bluefield. If the Beavers win, the game will be in Bluefield at a time and date to be determined. If Keyser wins, the contest will be played at Jamison Field on a day and time to be determined.
