Bridgeport’s quest for a fourth straight Class AA state championship remained alive thanks to a 45-14 win against Lincoln quarterfinal prep football playoff action this evening at Wayne Jamison Field. The Indians used a third quarter barrage of offense - scoring 24 points - to break open a tight game at the half.

The win moves Bridgeport to 12-0 on the year. The Cougars, who lost a regular season game by a 24-0 score this year, close their campaign at 9-3.

BHS scored 21 points off of turnovers in the period. The other three points came after stopping the Cougars on a fourth down conversion.

For the second straight game, J.T. Harris had a monster outing. He finished with 143 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.

If Bridgeport is to advance to Wheeling, it will have to get past the winner of Saturday afternoon's Weir at Fairmont Senior game. The Polar Bears, who fell 17-14 at home in week 10 of the regular season, can choose four time slots for next week’s game.

The game next week can be played Friday at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. It can be played at the same times Saturday. FSHS or Weir will make the call Sunday when administrators and coaches meet at the WVSSAC offices in Parkersburg.
