Report: WVU Defensive Coordinator Gibson One of Several Coaching Targets for Cincinnati Football

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on December 05, 2016 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

A day after West Virginia University announced it had signed head football Coach Dana Holgorsen to a five-year extension, a Fox News reporter has stated that one of the Mountaineers' assistants is being looked at for a vacant coaching position.

According to a Tweet by Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman Sunday, the University of Cincinnati is looking at WVU defensive coordinator Tony Gibson's. Gibson's defense, which was riddled by key injuries this year, is considered by many a big reason for the Mountaineers' 10-2 record and third place finish in the Big 12.

Feldman also said the Bearcats are expected to look at Western Kentucky's Jeff Brohm, Appalachian State's Scott Satterfield, Troy State's Neal Brown and Gibson. You can see his Tweet HERE.

On Sunday, WVU was announced as the Big 12 representative in the Russell Athletic Bowl Dec. 28 in Orlando. The Mountaineers will play Miam of the ACC.
