School Officials Close Wayne Jamison Field Complex

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on March 31, 2020 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

As of today, the Wayne Jamison Field complex is officially closed.

Bridgeport High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Mark Jones posted the closure during the afternoon hours. Signs are up and the gates are locked.

“The facilities are closed until further notice,” said Jones. “We need people to stay away from the facilities. We're following guidelines as set by the governor with recreational facilities."

Jones knows the facility, particularly the all-weather track, is heavily utilized by the community. However, he points out that the facility’s closure is for the good of those in Bridgeport and beyond.

“It’s being done in an effort to slow the spread of the Coronavirus. Bridgeport High School is looking to do its part and that’s led us to close the facility to students, residents or any other individual,” said Jones. “We’re asking you to please abide by this request.”

Jones said the Bridgeport Police Department has been made aware of the closure. They have been asked to monitor the facility for compliance.

At such time when the facility is re-opened, Jones said the community will be notified through the media and other sources.
