Spags Sealcoating Captures Bridgeport Little League A-Ball Championship

On Wednesday June 7, 2017, the Bridgeport Little League A-Ball division came to an end with a nail-biting bottom-of-the-fifth victory. The 2017 champions, Spags Sealcoating, defeated KLX with a final score of 6-5 in the bottom of the 5th inning of the double-elimination tournament.
 
On Monday, June 5, Spags defeated KLX by getting 12 hits and holding KLX to a single hit for the contest. The final score was 10-0 to put Spags as the winner of the winners' bracket. on Tuesday, June 6, KLX defeated Allstate to be the winner of the losers' bracket. Immediately following the win against Allstate, KLX played Spags. KLX defeated Spags with a score of 12-2. 
 
In this meeting, Spags was able to get nine hits to KLX's three hits. The championship game was scheduled to be played the next day. Both teams having lost one game, Spags won the coin toss at the beginning of the game to determine the home team. After the first inning Spags was behind 5-2. Spags scored three runs in the fourth inning to tie the game.
 
Spags defense was key to hold KLX scoreless the remainder of the game. In the bottom of the fifthwith two outs, a runner on second with a full count on the batter, Spags hit a game-winning RBI single to end the game with a close play at home plate. Spags racked up eight hits while KLX was only able to get three hits.
