Stonewall Resort to Host Make-A-Wish Golf Tournament

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on July 29, 2014 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Stonewall Resort will host a golf outing on the Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course on Monday, Aug. 4 to help raise funds for the Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia chapter of Make-A-Wish®, resort officials announced.  Golfers interested in participating in this 11th annual event are encouraged to enter the tournament.

Leslea Gillum, golf shop manager at Stonewall Resort, said, “There are many children in our region suffering from life threatening medical conditions.  Stonewall Resort wants to help provide a life-changing experience for these kids and we know Make-A-Wish does this on a daily basis.”

Gillum said this event will help children like Brandon, a 17-year-old from Randolph County who has been diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor. Brandon loves to play video games, especially the game Lego City. He also loves to spend time building Lego creations. When wish-granting volunteers met with Brandon, he knew he wanted his wish to revolve around his love of Lego toys. Make-A-Wish will help Brandon visit Lego Land in California this June with his family.

“It would be great to see some new and familiar faces here to make this wish come true for Brandon and the other wish children the organization serves,” Gillum said.

The event begins with a lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the tournament – which will be played in a four-person golf scramble format – begins at 1:00 p.m.

Those interested in participating can sponsor a team at $440 (four person team), sponsor both a team and a hole at $565, or – for those unable to attend – sponsor a hole for $125.
