Trio of BHS Players Receive All-Big 10 Conference Honors; Bell Chosen as a First-Team Pitcher

The Bridgeport High School baseball team is represented by three players on the All-Big 10 Conference team as selected by the league’s coaches and administrators.
 
Earning first-team honors is pitcher Andrew Bell, while catcher Phil Reed and infielder Zach Rohrig are second-team selections.
 
North Marion’s Cole Malnick was chosen as the Big 10 Conference Player of the Year. East Fairmont’s Connor Tingler was selected as the Pitcher of the Year and Coach of the Year honors went to Fairmont Senior’s Dave Ricer.
 
Bell posted a record of 4-2 inn 44 2-3 innings this year. He struck out 45 and had an earned run average of 2.98. Opponents had a cumulative batting average of .215 against Bell.
 
Reed was named the second-team catcher. He also played first, third and left field for the Tribe in 2023. He finished with a .349 average with one home run, 26 RBIs, four doubles and five triples. He also drew 24 walks, was hit by a pitch 14 times and stole 10 bases.
 
Rohrig, who played second and third for the Indians was chosen as a second-team infielder. He hit .362 for the Indians, who finished the season at 21-14, with 45 runs, one homer, 21 RBIs, nine doubles, one triple and 24 stolen bases.
 
Joining Bell on first team all-Big 10 are Buckhannon-Upshur outfielder Landon Marple, Lewis County outfielder Joey Aman, Fairmont Senior outfielder Cameron Peschl, Fairmont Senior outfielder Dom Barone, Grafton infielder Dustin Keener, Fairmont Senior infielder Gunner Riley, Lincoln infielder Lance Hotstuttler, Fairmont Senior infielder Brody Whitehair, Robert C. Byrd infielder Nick George, Buckhannon-Upshur pitcher Zach Calef-Boring, Fairmont Senior pitcher Hayden Jones, Philip Barbour utility player Alfred Isch, Philip Barbour catcher Tyler Sisson and East Fairmont first baseman Danny Raddish.
 
In addition to Reed and Rohrig, second-team selections are Liberty outfielder Cooper Floyd, Lewis County outfielder Zach James, RCB outfielder Bryce Bird, B-U outfielder Payton Bennett, Lewis County infielder Brayden Carter, Lewis County infielder Trenton Hunt, East Fairmont infielder Carter Brown, Lewis County infielder Grant Mealey, East Fairmont pitcher Owen Music, Grafton pitcher Cole Mooney, Elkins pitcher Cameron Biller, Fairmont Senior utility player Logan Canfield and Preston first baseman Brady McNew.
