WVU Football Team Continues to Fill Defensive Holes by Landing another Power 5 Conference Transfer

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on April 10, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to the Charleston Gazette-Mail, the West Virginia University football team did not have a spring game this past Saturday, but that didn’t make the weekend any less important as far as visits go. The Mountaineers hosted several grad transfers for the 2018 class and several key recruits for 2019. By all accounts, things went very well.

The big news was that West Virginia secured the commitment of UCLA transfer Denzel Fisher. The fifth-year senior played four seasons at UCLA as a cornerback, choosing to find a new home for his final season after a coaching change.

“It’s a real opportunity for me to come in with a leadership role and make an impact with the team,” Fisher said about the opportunity at WVU. “They told me they were looking for me to be the guy that’s going to be a leader in that group.”

Fisher appeared in seven games for the Bruins last season, recording 10 tackles and two pass break-ups. He has 24 tackles in his UCLA career.
