WVU Sees Another Player Enter Transfer Portal and it's Area where Depth is Lacking for Mountaineers

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 18, 2019 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

According to MetroNews, West Virginia wide receiver Dillon Spalding has entered the NCAA transfer portal, a source with access to the portal confirmed to MetroNews on Thursday evening.

Spalding’s action was first reported by 247 Sports.

Spalding is a redshirt freshman who sat out last season with an injury. He was involved in the offense this spring, snagging a touchdown pass from Trey Lowe on the final play of the spring game. Spalding was in a tier of outside receivers vying to be on West Virginia’s second string this fall.

A 6-foot-1, 217-pound native of Lorton, Va., Spalding chose West Virginia over Michigan and East Carolina in December 2017.

Receiver Marcus Simms has already entered the portal from WVU, but has yet to find a destination. Spalding can still withdraw his name and return to WVU.
