WVU's Pankey Suspended for Opener vs. Missouri

According to MetroNews, West Virginia left guard Adam Pankey is suspended following last week’s DUI arrest and will miss the season opener against Missouri, coach Dana Holgorsen announced Tuesday.

“We hold these guys to high expectations, and when you don’t meet that, there’s going to be consequences,” said Holgorsen, noting that Tony Matteo is slated to replace Pankey in the opening week lineup. “We’ll continue the suspension through Missouri and address it at that point.”

Pankey, 22, was charged with driving under the influence after his car flipped in a late-night crash Aug. 13. The senior and 25-game starter registered a blood-alcohol level of .147, police reports showed.
