West Virginia Football Squad Sees Another Assistant Coach, One of its Premier Recruiters Leave

According to MetroNews, West Virginia outside linebackers coach Al Pogue, whose infectious enthusiasm on the practice field made him one of the most popular coaches on Neal Brown’s staff, is leaving the program for a position at Auburn.
A West Virginia program source confirmed that Pogue is leaving the Mountaineers for the Tigers. Auburn had an opening for a defensive backs coach after Marcus Woodson was hired at Florida State last month.
It’s a homecoming for Pogue, who is a native of Mobile, Ala. Pogue served as Brown’s cornerbacks coach at Troy from 2014-18.
Prior to his time at Troy, Pogue spent three years in a variety of capacities at Auburn — offensive quality control (2011), special teams quality control (2012) and director of high school relations (2013).
Pogue was one of the ace recruiters on Brown’s staff. Earlier this week, he and defensive line coach Jordan Lesley just teamed up to land Bandit Eddie Watkins on National Signing Day.
