I wanted to share with you my opinion about another restaurant that I visited recently.  For Mother’s Day we decided to eat out but not to go to a buffet.  I decided that I would like to go to Mia Margherita at Charles Pointe in Bridgeport.

 

Buffets can be overwhelming, especially for us older folks, so it is much nicer to order meals.  The menu at Mia Margherita had a great selection of meals and it was kind of hard to choose.

 

We started with an appetizer of bruschetta, which was very tasty and a great way to start our meal. I ordered lasagna, Jean and Jeff Jenkins ordered an alfredo dish, Jamie Corton ordered lasagna, Fray Queen and Marty Queen shared a pizza, and Mike Queen ordered the standard spaghetti and meatballs.  We especially enjoyed our salads and were quite too full to have dessert.

 

We had a nice, reserved table and the service was great.  There was a nice crowd, but not overbearing.  I would recommend them for your next outing.  And by the way the prices were reasonable.  It was so enjoyable to observe Mother’s Day with family and friends.

 

This is also the time of year when we get our flowers ready in our gardens and on our patios.  I was able to get a nice bunch of pansies and have set them in containers on my patio.  I was able to get a few pepper and tomato plants and put them in a container on my deck.  I am also adding a basil plant.  I must confess that when I made my tomato salad for Sunday dinner, I snitched a few basil leaves and used them to season the salad.  Dry basil is good, but nothing beats fresh basil.

 

The Clarksburg Farmer's Market is certainly attracting people.  There has been a nice turnout the last two weeks.  The vendors were selling zucchini, rhubarb, asparagus, lettuce, and onions.  There were many beautiful potted flower plants as well as potted tomatoes and other vegetable plants.  I urge you to get in the habit of visiting the market every Saturday morning.  I am sure you will be pleased with all the items there.

 

As we approach Memorial Day, please plan your holiday with safety in mind.  I am sure that most of the pools in the area will be opening.  Why not plan an old-fashioned picnic and invite your family and friends. My old-fashioned picnic reminds me of my dad loading us up in his car and taking us to Audra State Park.  Mom would pack a picnic lunch of fried chicken, potato salad and baked beans and her great chocolate cake. And sometimes we would have a watermelon.  We hardly ever got a table but would spread out a blanket and eat our lunch in this fashion.  Things have certainly been modernized but the important part is being together. 

 

Congratulations to all the graduates.  Graduation day will be the first day of the rest of your life.
