The Grapevine: A Family Road Trip to Sunny Florida

By Rosalyn Queen on March 11, 2021 from The Grapevine via Connect-Bridgeport.com

You are getting the Grapevine this week as I am traveling south to visit my brother, Bill at his new home in Miramar Beach, Florida.  I am traveling with my son, Marty and Charnelle in his motor home.

We left Clarksburg several days ago and are taking our time.  We stop and eat and sleep and then we drive a few more hours.  At night we have been staying at the Walmart parking lots which are RV friendly. Although it has been a little chilly, the days have been beautiful.  I will be staying at my brothers for a week and then I will be flying back to Pittsburgh where Mike will be picking me up.

I know that many will think that this is a bad time to be taking a trip because of the virus, but after careful consideration I have decided that since I have had both shots and that I will be careful. I hope to be safe.

This is spring break and the students have already begun to gather, I certainly hope that they will follow all restrictions for the virus.  I know that I will be safe at my brothers around his pool, but I have some concerns about the flight home.  Prayerfully I will be safe.

I was really glad to see that we will be having flights out of Bridgeport to Destin, Florida, starting in May.  This will make it very convenient for us to visit Bill and for him to come home.  Although his location is further north in Florida and is on the Gulf of Mexico, it does not warm up as quickly as Southern Florida but is still a beautiful place to visit. With the convenience of the flights now I recommend you plan a visit.

Easter will be here in just a few short weeks.  I sincerely hope that we will all be able to celebrate together.  Perhaps the weather will cooperate, and we will be able to gather outdoors.  If you do not have your Easter Bread made, call the PWA and order a loaf. It will be available the week before Easter.  The number is 304-624-6881.  If you still want to make a batch, you can find the recipe in my book, Arrivederci.

Of course, I am sure that you know I will have a book.  I read a book that my granddaughter, Miranda, gave me.  I do not want to give it away to those who might want to read it, but it has a sad ending.  The book is Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.  Miranda tells me it is to be a movie.  I really like fairy tale endings and I really know that life is not always a fairy tale.

Take care, stay healthy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
