IT’S BACK!

Betty Waddy, PWA president, has announced that The Women Of Distinction Luncheon will be held Thursday, June 30, at noon at the Uptown Event Center.  The program which was started several years ago has not been held for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Increased interest in the program has pushed the PWA membership to reinstate the luncheon while still adhering to the pandemic restrictions.  Masks will be worn, and seating will be planned to meet the restrictions.  Due to these plans seating will be limited, and it is recommended that reservations be made early at 304-624-6881.

The program honors women in our area who have careers but who volunteer and make a difference in our community.  In February it honored African American Women, in June it honors THE American Woman. And in October it honors Italian American Women.  A luncheon will be held for the honorees, and each will receive a plaque to honor their accomplishments.

Taking part in the ceremony will be a representative from Davis Funeral Home, Event Sponsor, a City of Clarksburg Representative and the PWA president.  There is always a special keynote speaker and this year Marlee Feree, Marketing Director for the Chamber of Commerce, will have the honor.

The following women will be honored:  Paula Flint, local Life Coach; Carrie Hill, Jewel Church pastor; Rosie Kane, Emergency Room Nurse; Angie Knight, Mission Food Service; Cheryl Mehaulic, retired Tax Supervisor; Mickey Petitto, Certified Real Estate Agent and accounting and tax practice; Rita Robinson, Evangelistic Minister;  Becky Sands,  preceptor for nurses and new department employees; Kathie Titus, retired director of Clarksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau; and Annette Wright, City of Clarksburg Clerk.

A luncheon will be served prior to the ceremony.  It is the mission of the Progressive Women's Association to call attention to the many contributions to our community that women make through volunteerism All of these services are done without pay or recognition and the PWA wants to thank them for the many hours they invest in our community. We hope the community will join us in honoring these individuals

Stay safe and healthy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
