The Grapevine: Information, Talk on Primary Election and Easter Family Dinner at Great Local Restaurant

By Rosalyn Queen on April 28, 2022 from The Grapevine via Connect-Bridgeport.com

As April swiftly passes, it is time for us to think about voting. Our Primary election is Tuesday, May 10 and early voting starts on April 27.

Recently I have been told by several people that they are registered as Independents and cannot vote. A recent press release from Secretary of State Mac Warner’s office seems to indicate that Independents can vote as long as they request the ballot they wish to vote on. The workers at the polls are not allowed to help the voter decide which ballot they want. So, I encourage all you independent voters to go to the polls and cast your vote.

Last week I attended a Know Your Candidate reception hosted by the Harrison Chamber of Commerce at the Best Western Hotel. It was well attended and although there were some candidates missing most of those running for House of Delegates were present. Serving as MC was Jason Harshberger. Each candidate was given three minutes to introduce themselves and their platform. After all were introduced, they were encouraged to interact with the audience for questions. Although there were other candidates present this was for individuals seeking House of Delegates seats.

Those individuals present and speaking were Keith Marple, Ron Watson, Ryan Deems, Tyler Hart, Paul Howell, Bryan Payne, Mickey Petitto, Ben Hanlan, Laura Kimble, and Clay Riley. I am sure that there will be other Meet Your Candidate events before election, and I urge you to try to attend.

Of special interest are those seeking a seat on the Board of Education. In order to cast a vote for the right person it is necessary that you speak to those running and find out just what their goals are. The county has been divided into districts and the ballot will tell you how many individuals you may vote for in a district.

Be a good citizen and get out and vote and be an informed voter when doing so.

I hope you all had a good Easter and were able to spend it with your family. This year, my son, Mike Queen hosted most of our family to dinner at the Stonewall resort.

The buffet was delicious. We saw many people from Clarksburg, and it was great to visit with them. Having dinner with us was Mike, Ben Queen, Meredith Ward, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ward, Paula Queen Carder, Christy Thompson, Jamie Corten and Laura Goff Davis. I just wanted to tell you to make a trip to this beautiful resort. I understand they offer many events for the public to participate in both on and off the water. It is always great to see our friend, Joe Corcoglioniti. He does a great job at the resort.

A reminder to book the dining room at the PWA for your spring and summer events. It has a wonderful commercial kitchen, and the dining area can be decorated complete with linen tablecloths and chair covers. Elegance at a great price. Call 304-624-6881 for information and reservations.

Enjoy the beautiful weather, stay healthy and happy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
