The Progressive Women’s Association of Harrison County operates a Food Pantry in the Uptown Event Center in Clarksburg year-round.  In an effort to supply food baskets to individuals in the area they reached out to the community for assistance.

The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce held an all-day conference for their Leadership Class at the Uptown Event Center and the meals were supplied by the PWA.  An appeal was made to those attending to supply items of food for the Thanksgiving baskets.

As a result, an abundance of food was supplied for the baskets. A contact was made by Meredith Williams to Betty Waddy, PWA president, for assistance to several individuals who were receiving treatment at the cancer center at United Hospital Center. The appeal was met and the PWA donated five baskets complete with turkey and all food for each family’s annual dinner.

“The UHC Cancer Center staff is inspired by the generosity of the PWA. The patients were visibly appreciative and will undoubtedly benefit from your donation beyond the Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you for all that you do for our community,” said Williams.

The baskets were delivered to UHC by Elinda Carson, Betty Waddy, and Rosalyn Queen.  Stay healthy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
