The Grapevine: Princess Grace, Sports Cars & the Monte Carlo Casino

By Rosalyn Queen on April 28, 2015 from The Grapevine via Connect-Bridgeport.com

Well, another dream come true on my bucket list.  Yesterday, I spent the day in Monaco and visited the famous casino Monte Carlo.  Monaco is a beautiful place and I can understand why Grace Kelley wanted to make it her home.  We visited the castle that she called home but was informed that the family has a home higher up in the mountains and stay there most of the time.  We also got to visit the church where she was married. A tour around the church revealed the spots where she and the prince are buried inside the church.  A lovely picture of the couple stands behind the two entombments. In the American way her grave had many little items mostly angels and flowers.  I felt so sad for the loss of this lovely lady so early in life.

We then visited the spot where the Grand Prix is held and the famous Fairmont turn.  Although there was no race going on, there were so many beautiful sports cars there.  I do not think that Dave has ever seen so many sports cars in one location. I then made a visit to the Monte Carlo Casino where you had to pay ten dollars for admission but I did win a few dollars on the first machine I played.  We have much larger casinos here in the United States but I have an idea they have a lot of high rollers.

Another few days in Italy and then we will be home.  I just heard on the television that some parts of West Virginia had snow.  I was hoping we could get busy with our garden but we may have to wait a few more weeks.

Hope all is well at home and I will be sharing some wonderful ideas, recipes, etc. from this trip in future columns.

Be sure to keep in touch with me. You have received the Grapevine from aboard the Celebrity Reflection and until next week "Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine."
