The Grapevine: Returning to Church Services Ahead of Easter and a Airport Event as COVID Sees a Drop

By Rosalyn Queen on March 10, 2022 from The Grapevine via Connect-Bridgeport.com

“Into every life a little sun will shine.” I do not know if someone else said this or if I made it up, but it really refers to my blog this week.  After some pretty big thunderstorms last week, I finally woke up to a world of sunshine.

Since Lent began Wednesday (March 2), I had to search for a Mardi Gras party on Tuesday and lo and behold the Harrison County Chamber was having one.  This event was held at the airport in their Conference Center.  It was hosted by Thrasher Group.

After a long absence of Business After Hours due to COVID the Chamber was finally able to host this event again.  The great thing about Business After Hours is that you get to interact with your Harrison County business friends.  I will have to agree that over the years the members have changed, and it is a younger group than in the past.  I especially miss seeing Dusty Spelsburg and Jeannie Kalaygio. But it does me good to be able to interact with those young professionals.  I was even able to conduct a little business on behalf of the Progressive Women’s Association. The food was delicious and praise to the Kathy and to Marla on a great party.  By the way if you are not a member, why not consider joining this group, it will enhance your business.

After such an enjoyable Tuesday, I had made plans for Ash Wednesday.  Not long ago I went to church every day but after COVID and the eye surgeries I have not been to church for quite a while.  I attend mass every Sunday on EWTN.

My cousin Ruby dedicated Ash Wednesday to me and I was able to attend church and get my ashes.  What a wonderful feeling to be back in my church with my church family.  I learned that my good friend Folly Basil is now living in Charleston close to her son.  As I looked around the church, I realized that the prayers that Sheila Lopez, Sarah Scolapio, Phil Oliverio, and many of the other members really were answered.  I truly thank God for allowing me such a great and rewarding Ash Wednesday.  I truly have plans to have a great Lenten Season with prayer and sacrifice.  I invite all my readers to join me.

I am giving up eating meat on Wednesday and Friday.  If you want to join me, try some egg, salad, tuna salad and toasted cheese sandwiches.  These are always good with a cup of hot tomato soup.  Do not forget to make a pot of potato soup to accompany your sandwiches.  If you want to replace the soup, a green salad will be great with any of the sandwiches.

Once again, I want to. remind you of the PWA Easter Bread sale.  They will also be making peanut butter eggs.  Call 304-624-6881 and place your order now.

Take care, stay safe, stay healthy and until next week “Now You Have Heard It Through The Grapevine.”
