The Grapevine: Welcoming Fall and the Cultural Foundation of Harrison County New Concert Series

By Rosalyn Queen on September 20, 2016 from The Grapevine via Connect-Bridgeport.com

There is no denying, Fall is here!

This Sunday Dave and I went for a ride in the country and the trees have begun to change colors and leaves are falling everywhere.  With cooler weather and the beauty of the hills this also means that surely it will not belong until we have mushrooms.  I hope you will take the time to go for a ride so that you can enjoy the changing of the colors. Nature has so blessed us with this beautiful natural phenomenon.

The holidays will be here before we know it and there will be many little items that we must attend to.  I just want to remind you that now is the time to get your season tickets for the New Concert Series being brought to you by the Cultural Foundation of Harrison County and the Barbara B. Highland Fund for The Arts.   The Foundation has announced the program for the 2016 - 2017 season.  It looks like it is one of the most exciting to come to our area.

Starting on September 30, the series will open with a presentation by Kirsten Wyatt.   She will kick off the series with her witty and entertaining show "Gypsies, Tramps & Elves."  Kirsten is a Broadway star but best of all she is a Clarksburg native.  She attended school in the area before going to New York to pursue her successful career. She is the daughter of well know musicians and educators Phil and Renee Wyatt. She will be performing at the Robert C. Byrd High School Theater.

On December 16, a wonder holiday concert will be presented by Tenore.  These tenors will perform selections from their album Christmas with You.  This concert will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg.

Welcoming spring in 2017 will be a presentation by Cherish the Ladies on March 2 at the Robert C. Byrd High School Theater.  This Irish American Super group presents an evening that includes a spectacular blend of instrumental talents, beautiful vocals and stunning step dancing.

Rounding out the season will be the 11 piece Fabulous Equinox Little Big Band presentations of renditions of great American classics made popular by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and others.  They will be performing on May 8, at the Robert C. Byrd High School Theater.

Get your tickets on line at THECULTURALFOUNDATION.ORG.  Season tickets to these wonderful performances would make a wonderful Christmas gift for your friends and family.  I urge you to support the work of this Foundation as they bring these wonderful Cultural programs to our area.  See you at the show.

The Progressive Women's Association of Harrison County is busy preparing for the Women of Distinction Program which will be held in conjunction with Italian Culture Month in October.  These programs have become very popular in the area.  We urge you to get your tickets early as there is limited seating for this luncheon. For more information please call Elinda at (304) 624-6881.

A happy birthday to Becky Sprout, Dan Fisher and all of you September babies. My mother's birthday was in September and she would have been 97, what wonderful memories I have of her.

A reminder to make plans to attend all the Fall Festivals being held in our area.  This is a wonderful way to end the vacation season and to support our local communities.
