The City of Shinnston Community Development Office has made their first major talent signing for the 2014 Frontier Days Festival.  Professional wrestling legend "Rowdy Roddy Piper" will be the featured attraction at the festival's wrestling show, promoted by the American Pro Wrestling Alliance.  Piper is one of the most popular professional wrestlers of all time and helped create "Wrestlemania" with Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff.  Piper recently appeared on an episode of WWE Monday Night Raw and was also on Wrestlemania 30 held last night (Sunday April 6th) in the New Orleans Superdome.  

 

Piper will be the headline attraction at the Frontier Days show September 27th.  The show will also feature several championship matches and a steel cage match.  Community Development Director Reuben Perdue says they expect it to be the biggest attraction of the festival.

 

"Last year we had the Steiner Brothers and it was a standing-room-only crowd.  This year we wanted to continue building on that success and with Piper, we feel we've hit not just a homerun, but a grand-slam."
