When asked to describe Dough Re Mi, customers like David Whitmoyer said:

"It's a really down-to-earth, homey atmosphere."

Although the cafe only opened a couple years ago, owner Heather Schneider has been dreaming up this business for a long time.

"In high school, my freshman year, my friend Rosa and I joked about opening a coffee shop bakery," said Schneider.

Schneider credits her mom's lessons in the kitchen and a lifetime in the food service industry for her baking skills.

"I did not go to a culinary program, but I have learned a lot from other people, family members especially," she said.

She also praises libraries; Schneider explained that she spent a lot of time checking out cook-books from her local library, which helped her become a skilled baker.

The shop serves organic teas and locally roasted coffee. Breads and pastries are baked fresh daily, and made with local, organic ingredients.
