In the heart of Buckhannon, you'll find a new restaurant that's looking to steal a piece of your heart with a pita, bubble tea and smoothies.

Pita My Heart opened on North Kanawha Street three months ago, looking to provide residents with a healthier lunch option that also piques the curiosity of the taste buds.

"We wanted to provide something in Buckhannon that hadn't been here before," owner Katie De La Vega said. "Something as an alternative to all the comfort food you can find."

De La Vega was born in Los Angelas and moved to Buckhannon with her partner a few years ago.

The newest venture in her newest city introduces a combination of food and drink options that go outside the box of the traditional lunch menu.

Particularly all of the fresh, homemade and healthy pita options loaded with your choice of ingredients prepared right in front of you with the slow roasting gyro meat on display.

"They're big hearty pitas - full of meat, beef, lamb or chicken," De La Vega said. "It is healthier but it is delicious."

Perhaps even more intriguing are the colorful drink options here - Including a bubbly option.

Their bubble lemonade is hand-pressed and comes in a variety of flavors. Tiny yogurt-flavored bubbles sit at the bottom of the drink that rise up through a straw.
