Pizza Made from Scratch is Long-Time Specialty, but Menu at this Nearby Restaurant has Plenty to Offer

For those visiting Bridgeport who have already sampled the city's fare or those who are residents of the city and beyond looking for a trip for a new culinary experience, here's a recent edition of WBOY's Restaurant Road Trip. This week, the restaurant in question is 14 miles east of Bridgeport and just off U.S. Route 50.

FROM WBOY

Almost twenty years ago, Audrey Gump's husband, Rick, came home and asked his wife how she felt about opening a pizza restaurant. The result was Grafton Hometown Pizza.

The Gumps rarely even made pizza at home, but with the help of Rick's brother Tim and sister-in-law Melissa, they found a recipe that keeps customers coming back.

"We have a lot of repeat customers. The bar is open all day, so we get a variety of people coming in throughout the day. We make our own dough, make our own sauce, do everything in house," said owner Audrey Gump.

The restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat salad and pizza bar every day, as well as sandwiches and specialty pizzas. The most popular menu item is their 16 inch square "Big Momma" one-topping pizza, which is offered for ten dollars through dine-in or pickup and $15 for delivery.

"We have really good prices on our pizzas, so that's what brings them in. You know, you can feed a family of four for less than ten dollars. The buffet with your drink is $8.55," said Audrey Gump.
