A Weekend Celebration of Black Culture

 

The West Virginia Black Heritage Festival is much more than just a concert. This family-friendly event is a vibrant celebration of Black culture, history, and community. 

 

The weekend kicks off on Friday, September 6th with the Youth Block Party and Annual Golf Tournament.

 

Saturday explodes with a full day of festivities, starting with the Opening Ceremony featuring the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation followed by the crowning of the festival's King and Queen. The rest of the day is filled with a diverse lineup of musical entertainment, featuring:

 

    •    Fairmont's own West Side Rhythm and Blues

    •    West Virginia's First Lady of Soul, Lady D

    •    Fairmont's own Byron Cooper's Flight 66

    •    Pittsburgh's Hottest Dance band, the Franchise Band

    •    Featuring - INVINCIBLE: A Glorious Tribute to Michael Jackson

 

Sunday brings a day of spiritual upliftment with a church service followed by vibrant gospel music.

The West Virginia Black Heritage Festival is powered by a dedicated team of an all volunteer Board of Directors who work tirelessly throughout the year to give back to the community. They have awarded over $300,000.00 in college scholarships to date, making a real difference in the lives of young people.
