For Bridgeport High School's girls basketball team, it's do or die if they want to make it to next week's Class AA state tournnament. Standing in the way of the Indians and looking to make its own run to Charleston is Roane County.

The two teams will meet this evening at Buckhannon-Upshur High for the right to advance. The game begins at 7 p.m.

The Indians come into the game with a 17-7 record. BHS won the Region II, Section 1 tournament by a 62-60 score against Lincoln. Roane County fell in the Region II, Section 2 tournament title game by a 71-34 score to Nicholas County.

Without the ongoing work stoppage, tonight's game would have been played at Bridgeport High School. However, with Harrison County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mark Manchin ruling that all buildings will remain closed as long as the stoppage continues the game will be played in Buckhannon.

The Indians are led by the trio of Emily Riggs, Rory Marple and senior Kaitlin Smith. Roane County is paced by all-state guard Lucy Westfall.

Also, due to Manchin's ruling that paid personnel cannot coach during the stoppage, Bridgeport will be coached this evening - barrinng something drastic on the stoppage front - by volunteer assistant Coach Paul Smith, BHS Principal Mark DeFazio annd BHS Assistant Principal Renee Mathews.
