A three-vehicle accident earlier this week resulted in a child being transported to Bridgeport’s United Hospital Center, Fire Chief Phil Hart said.

The accident took place Tuesday, Oct. 4. The call came into the Harrison County 911 center at 3:30 p.m. for a multi-vehicle accident on Meadowbrook Road.

“Upon arrival, there were three vehicles involved in the accident,” said Hart. “Most of the damage involved two vehicles.”

The two vehicles with the most damage was a Fed-Ex delivery vehicle and a Jeep Sports Utility Vehicle. Hart said both of those vehicles suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene. A third vehicle, he said, was able to be driven away and did not suffer nearly as severe damage as the others involved.

“The Fed-Ex truck and the Jeep were both in pretty bad shape,” said Hart.

Hart said one individual, a male child, required a medical transport that was oversaw by the city’s ambulance service that is part of the fire department.

“The injuries were non-life threatening,” said Hart. “The child went to United Hospital Center for evaluation.”

Hart said the child was properly restrained in the vehicle. The child was a passenger in the Jeep.

Along with handling those involved in the crash, Hart said they were assisted on the scene by the Bridgeport Police Department.

The Bridgeport Police helped with traffic as Hart said traffic was backed up both ways before the scene was cleared in roughly 30 minutes.

The Bridgeport Police are overseeing the investigation.
