Transcedent Healing, "New and Different" State Street Business Ran by BHS Alumna Lafferty, Opens Doors

It’s not as if Bridgeport High School alumna Annika “Annie” Lafferty wasn’t doing well with her post-educational stint into the labor force. After all, she has a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and a Master’s Degree in occupational therapy from West Virginia University; the latter of which she obtained in 2014.

Yet, the occupational therapist had been wanting to test the waters of something different; something she truly believed in that could help others. And last week, on May 27 to be exact, she turned that belief into a new business that’s not only unique for the city and region, but probably unique for much of West Virginia as well.

Lafferty, a 2007 Bridgeport High School graduate, is operating Transcendent Healing, which is located as part of the State Street Plaza on State Street. The business is in the free-standing building at the end of the cul-de-sac.

Transcendent Healing focuses on a relatively new trend known as reconnective healing. The healing of the body from various standpoints, she said, is done from the inside out and is completely non-invasive.

“It works with the energy field of your body, which most people aren’t aware that they have a measurable energy field. Sometimes it’s hard to understand because the science behind it is new,” said Lafferty. “Reconnective healing has me working with those fields to bring balance to your mental, spiritual, physical and emotional health.”

So how did Lafferty, schooled here in Bridgeport and with her higher education coming from Morgantown, learn about this new field? She said it came from a seminar.

“There are seminars where you are taught about this and taught about reconnective healing. I went to California for a seminar in Sacramento and was immediately drawn to it,” said Lafferty, who said she received her certification at the seminar. “Once there and once I knew about this, I really thought this is something I should do.”

And now, she’s doing just that. She said that it can treat a variety of ailments, in particular issues with anxiety. She said the same type of treatment worked on her and it can make an impact on others with those issues and numerous others.

“For some people, like me, taking a pill isn’t the answer for everything,” she said.

Of course, Lafferty knows people will be skeptical of what she’s offering, and she’s fine with that. She said there’s already plenty of information out there about connective healing and she’s done enough research herself that she feels comfortable offering this new service.

“From my research, from the studies I’ve read and the testimonials it made something that seemed too good to be true to be that good,” said Lafferty. “If you’ve had problems and it doesn’t work, give it a try and see if it works for you. I’m fully aware that it’s new and different, but in my opinion maybe we need something new and different.”

The treatments are done in the State Street location. The individual lays down – fully clothed and there is no contact between Lafferty and the client.

“I work with energy, basically energy lines that are in us and around us that reconnect you to who you are. This is all guided by a higher energy,” she said. “One thing is for sure and that’s that I’m not a woman working with a crystal ball. This is safe.”

Lafferty’s work at Transcendent Healing is done by appointment. You can visit her Web site by clicking HERE. There is contact information inside the Web site. Lafferty said she is glad to answer questions and the best way is through the email address listed.
