Former Harrison County employee Mike Bullough has filed to run for City Council in the June 9 Bridgeport Municipal Election.

Monday, Jan. 12 was the first day to file a certificate declaring candidacy. That process will be open through Thursday, April 9. Bullough is the fourth applicant in the Council race thus far, said City Clerk Andrea Kerr. There is also one candidate that has filed for the open city recorder seat.

Two Council members will be elected, as well as a new city recorder. Elected in June of 2011 for four-year terms was Council members Darrell Bowen and Melissa S. Matheny and Recorder Mario Blount. Although changes in those positions have occurred over the past four years, each seat is up for election.

For the past 21 years and nine months, Bullough worked in the Harrison County Assessor’s office.  As of last Friday, Bullough retired. Prior to his time in the Assessor’s office, he did survey work for various companies. He is a 1970 graduate of Victory High School. Bullough attended college at Glenville State, Fairmont State and Marshall. Mike is father to five children and four grandchildren. His wife is Terry.
