New Students in City Feeder System Need to Register this Friday, Monday at Bridgeport High School

It’s that time of year again – and it’s one of the big signs that the start of the school year is right around the corner. And it has nothing to do with fall sports practice sessions beginning Monday.

Bridgeport High School Principal Mark DeFazio has announced that new student registration will take place Monday and Friday. The registration will take place at the high school on Johnson Avenue.

“The most important thing is that this is new student registration, but it’s not for students that will be coming to the high school from the middle school. This is for new students that have moved into the Bridgeport feeder area,” said DeFazio.

DeFazio is hoping community members will help spread the word to new families about the registration process. He said once a family realizes they need to register that the first step is to call the school to set up an appointment for this Friday or Monday. Appointments can be made by calling 304-326-7137.

While documents aren’t mandatory, DeFazio said having transcripts or other educational records will provide a significant assist. He also said a copy of their last report card from the previous school would be beneficial.

“Basically, any type of records they can produce or furnish during the appointment will be helpful,” DeFazio said.

Another thing that can help the process is for the parents or guardians of the students, or the students themselves, coming to the high school to pick up a registration packet prior to making their appointment this Friday or Monday. DeFazio said those packets can be picked up anytime this week between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the administrative office.

“We’ll have several announcements in the days ahead and we’d appreciate if the community would help spread the word,” said DeFazio.
