40 for 40 - The Film

By Jeff Toquinto on October 13, 2012 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

On July 17, the first player in the 40 for 40 series was unveiled on Connect-Bridgeport. More than a month later, on August 24, the final two players on the list of the top 40 players of the last 40 years of Bridgeport football was announced.

The unscientific ranking of those players drew the attention of many in the Bridgeport community and beyond. By the time the entire series was complete, the stories surrounding the series had individuals hit on them more than 80,000 times.

While the hoopla from the series ended in August, those named to the honor unit were recognized at halftime of the Sept. 8 game with North Marion. Along with a pre-game tailgate party, the number one individual in the series, Steve Stout, was presented with a plaque in recognition of finishing at the top of the list.

Along with those festivities, Jason Adams of Dream On Creative was on hand to capture many of the highlights. Adams also spent time talking with Stout and long-time Bridgeport coach Wayne Jamison to capture the essence of the program.

“The connection between player and coach is a special thing. It became clear that the young men who play Bridgeport football take away an experience that shapes them not just as players of a game but of young men of their community,” said Adams, a Bridgeport alumnus. “There is a real honor and regard that every alumni player seems to hold for the football program and the field. Watching a football game at Wayne Jamison field is a look back for so many of a place that helped make them who they are today.”

Connect-Bridgeport is proud to present this short film produced by Adams. We hope you enjoy it.
