A two-vehicle accident in an area along U.S. Route 50 that has seen several in recent years did severe damage to both automobiles this afternoon. Although the impact of the vehicles deployed airbags in both cars, Bridgeport Fire Department Captain Phil Hart said there were no life-threatening injuries.

“No one was transported on this,” said Hart who was assisting on the scene along with the Bridgeport Police Department.

The collision took place at the exit to the McDonald’s on Main Street. Hart said a white Nissan Murano was pulling out of the restaurant area and collided with a white late model Lincoln Continental.

The call came into the Harrison County 911 office at 2:33 p.m. Although traffic was moving after the incident occurred, Lt. J.A. Post was making it run as smoothly as possible.

Workers from Dan Riggs Towing were called into to remove the vehicles from the scene, while Bridgeport Fire Department personnel were cleaning up debris as the result of the accident. Bridgeport Police Officer S.A. Brown is handling the investigation.
