Annual Troop40 Mulch Sale Going on as Scheduled with Delivery Only; Utilizing Proper Social Distancing

While many things Bridgeport and area residents are accustomed to have been scrapped, one thing is moving ahead as plan. The annual Bridgeport Troop40 Mulch Sale is once again taking place and orders are being accepted.

“We were hoping to have it and we finally got ahold of the supplier,” said Scout Master Jason Hosaflook. “We have our station already set up below City Hall, but we are asking people not to stop there.

“The station is a staging area for deliveries,” he continued. “We’re going to encourage people to use the phone number (listed below) and our Web site (linked below) this year to try and make everything as hands off and with as little contact as possible.”

For those wanting to place an order, they can call 1-855-427-8740. Individuals can also order and find information through the Web site by clicking HERE.

“We are already taking orders and we hope to have deliveries started within this week or next,” said Hosaflook. “For those concerned about too much interaction amongst our group, we want people to know that we’ll be doing deliveries as father and son teams. That will be extra protection, but we want people to know it will also mean a little bit longer for delivery this year. We hope everyone understands.”

In the past, the station below the Bridgeport Municipal Complex would have people stationed there for pickup order on Saturdays and Sundays. That won’t be happening this year.

“We want to emphasize this is all going to be delivery,” said Hosaflook. “Once we deliver to the proper destination, we’re also going to observe proper social distancing. We’ll place the mulch where we’re instructed to place the mulch.”

The prices are as follows. The normal hardwood mulch will be three bags for $10 or a pallet (68 bags) for $225 dollars. For the colored mulch – offered in red, black and brown tint – the cost is three bags for $12 and a pallet for $270.

Hosaflook said the Troop40 Fundraiser will put all proceeds raised into the Friends of Troop40 Fund. He said the dollars helps buy equipment, provides funds for Eagle Scout Scholarships, adventure trips and more.
