BHS Alum, Former Kelly Drive Resident J.R. Frenzel Opens Business Venture Just Outside City Limits

J.R. Frenzel remembers the days of growing up in Bridgeport. He was one of the “Kelly Drive” gang and learned many life lessons along the way.

“The one thing you had to learn to be on Kelly Drive was how to be an athlete and how to compete. You played hard or got out of the way because the guys over there didn’t give you a choice,” said Frenzel. “That mindset of playing hard is something I’ve done my entire life. “You may not win all the time, but you better put your best foot forward. It’s served me well throughout my life personally and professionally.”

On the professional front, Frenzel is taking the approach into a new business venture. He will be operating Good Life Financial Advisors of West Virginia where he will serve as a wealth consultant for the organization.

The new business headed by the 1998 Bridgeport High School graduate is located on Sterling Drive in the Sterling Ridge Building. The location is just outside of Bridgeport and just prior to Anmoore and situated right off of Interstate 79.

The company is glad to have him aboard.

“J.R. becomes our first West Virginia advisor group. As a leader in his community, J.R. has chosen Good Life for our ability to take him independent but not make him feel alone,” said Conor Delaney, Founder and CEO of Good Life. “By handling the nonrevenue generating activities, JR gets back in front of his clients faster and more frequently. We look forward to providing him all the tools he needs to be successful and partnering in his success.”

While Frenzel is new to Good Life, partnered with the nation’s biggest independent broker dealer in the county in LPL Financial*, he’s not new to the financial services and investments arena. In fact, he’s got plenty of years of service that came about after graduating from West Virginia University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

However, it took a few years to get there.

“I started off with a plethora of managerial and sales jobs and one day I wanted to see what was out there,” said Frenzel.

Frenzel asked around, found an individual in the industry he’s now involved with and got started. He eventually got licensed and in 2009 started in the financial sector as an advisor. Now, Frenzel is starting with a group that he sought out that checked every box that was important to him.

“For the majority of my career, I’ve worked for firms that have emphasized sales numbers. It was well overdue that I aligned myself with a firm that shared the same values that I do,” said Frenzel. “After meeting Conor and the team at Good Life, the answer was evident. They provide a turnkey solution for me to provide the best service to my clients without the hassle of trying to operate a business in the background. Good Life supports me in balancing my time with my clients, my family, and my community.”

Frenzel is actively involved in the community and, not surprisingly, it’s on the sports front. With two young children, he’s volunteered coaching youth sports including baseball, basketball and soccer and even wrestling.

“I find myself regurgitating the lessons I learned on Kelly Drive that I take to the business world about teamwork, taking care of things and doing your best to those youth teams. It works well in both places and beyond,” said Frenzel, who lives on Ravenscroft Drive.

Frenzel holds both Series 7 and Series 66 registrations through LPL Financial. His approach to investing is one of quality over quantity, noting that one size does not fit all. He believes each individual has a unique set of goals and circumstances, and that special attention and consideration should be given to each client in order develop the proper solution.

“What works so well with this is that I’m in business for myself, but I’m not by myself. I have the support of everything needed from Good Life and LPL,” said Frenzel.

Frenzel will be joined by his operations manager Leann Kiner. He will also have part-time staff when needed. He is married to the former Abbey Stanley, also a Bridgeport graduate.
