For those visiting Bridgeport and for those in Bridgeport, there is a new way to find information, deals and more on shopping, dining, and various other activities – including recreational events – coming to the city.

The Greater Bridgeport Convention & Visitor’s Bureau recently unveiled a new App for smart phones and all related electronic devices. The App is available for free by going to any App store and search for Bridgeport CVB.

“With the public more than ever utilizing their cell phones and electronic devices, it provides instant access to Bridgeport information for locals and tourists alike,” said Bridgeport CVB Executive Director Michelle Duez.

One of the key areas the new App is targeting is individuals visiting Bridgeport for youth tournaments, particularly at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex. It is also targeting those that utilize other recreation facilities in the city.

The App has a number of features that are beneficial to the visitors and the community. There are tabs for items such as “eat” tab that include phone numbers, addresses, types of restaurants and more; a retail tab for businesses, a “stay” tab for lodging options, an “events” tab that shows local events, the “news” tab that provides stories from Connect-Bridgeport.com, and a “more” tab that includes information such emergency services, health care, education and more. That section also includes coupons that can be utilized at local establishments.

Duez said that the new App is also a work in progress. Staff is currently working to include directions to all establishments and well as looking at other potential modifications.

“I think this is fabulous. It’s the modern day phone book and more,” said Duez.

Although it’s in its infancy stage, after the first three days the App was available – and very lightly publicized – there were 66 downloads of that application. Duez encourages everyone to take advantage of the new App and what it offers.
