An early-afternoon accident at the Meadowbrook Mall resulted in damage to a pair of vehicles and air bags deployed, but fortunately the accident didn’t appear to be serious.

Bridgeport Police Officer B.P. Hyde said one of the passengers was checked out by Bridgeport Emergency medical staff, but the injuries weren’t serious enough to require transport. Bridgeport Fire staff said others refused transport from the scene.

The accident took place at 12:30 p.m. just off the main road that circles the mall. The area in question was across from Dick’s Sporting Goods in the mall’s main parking lot.

Most of the damage done was to an orange Honda Civic, where multiple parts of the front end were hanging from the vehicle. The Civic collided with a light blue Honda CRV. Damage was limited to the passenger side, but air bags had deployed on both sides of the vehicle.

Several units from the Bridgeport Police, Fire and EMS responded to the scene. The incident took place in an area that did not lead to an impact on traffic.

Hyde said the Bridgeport Police Department would handle the investigation.
