The sounds of police sirens around 1 p.m. this afternoon led multiple units from the Bridgeport Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department to the mobile home park nestled between the road leading to the North Central West Virginia Airport and the Bridgeport Cemetery. According to Bridgeport Police Department Deputy Chief Randy Hartley the call was for an alleged intruder.

Hartley said although the property is outside Bridgeport city limits, multiple units from the city responded to secure the perimeter. Bridgeport Police quickly secured the area, said Hartley. Once officers with the Sheriff’s Department arrived, the members of that department searched the residence in question.

Both Hartley and a Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy confirmed that no intruder was located on the premises. Once that was determined, Bridgeport Police began leaving the area just prior to 1:30 p.m.

More than a half dozen units responded to the scene. The matter will be under the investigation of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. Individuals with the Sheriff’s Department were still on the scene as of 1:30 p.m.

An official with the Sheriff's Department confirmed later this afternoon that no arrests are pending in the matter.
