The Bridgeport Police Department is once again using a tool that has proved extremely effective in solving cases – social media. This time, city police are hoping you can assist in solving a case just off of Jerry Dove Drive.

 

According to Bridgeport PFC C.B. Sayers, they are hoping to wrap up a shoplifting incident that took place back in April. The alleged shoplifting took place at the United Hospital Center.

 

“This isn’t a felony offense, but we would like to solve the case and hope the public can assist us by reviewing the image,” said Sayers.

 

Sayers said that typically in a case such as this, once the person is identified and the identity is confirmed (usually through the Division of Motor Vehicles to match the photos) Bridgeport Police will contact the subject.

 

“Ideally, we would call the female suspect in this case, have her come in and write a ticket. If that doesn’t happen, then a criminal complaint is filed with the (Harrison County) Magistrate’s office and a warrant is then issued,” said Sayers.

 

Despite the incident not being a felony, that doesn’t mean punishment isn’t forthcoming. Sayers said jewelry items were stolen and he’s hopeful this photo will bring resolution to the case.

 

“At first, I was surprised when we would post a photo with the media, particularly a clear photo, and we would get hit with several responses so I’m not surprised anymore,” said Sayers. “Officer (J.M.) Holley does this a good bit and he almost always gets a flood of information. We greatly appreciate the public’s help on these matters.”

 

Along with the photo of the white female, Sayers said they also know what vehicle she got into upon leaving. He said it was a white Cadillac.
