Bridgeport Police are hoping you can help them solve a “leaving the scene of an accident” situation that took place last month at Bridgeport City Park.

According to Officer J.M. Holley, the incident took place Sept. 22 at 4:55 p.m. The incident, after it was reported to police, was found while reviewing security camera footage.

“The video from City Park shows what appears to be, and I’m not 100 percent certain, a Toyota Venza that pulled into parking spot, strikes a Dodge Durango and then leaves the scene,” said Holley.

Holley said while the video is clear, it’s not clear enough to make out the license plate on the vehicle or the exact make. Regardless, the crime is a misdemeanor and he’s hoping the public can help locate the vehicle in question.

The vehicle is dark gray in color. On the front it has what could be a West Virginia University type of license plate with a white sticker on the back glass on the passenger side. The vehicle will also have damage to the front passenger fender and door.

“With the way the vehicle pulled in and left, we’re unable to get the license plate number. Hopefully someone will recognize the vehicle and, if they haven’t gotten it fixed, will notice the damage,” said Holley. “We’re grateful for the public’s help in these matters. It’s been very helpful in the past and if we can locate the owner we do plan on contacting them about the situation and addressing it.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Holley at 304-848-6112.

In the event no one answers, Holley asks that you leave a message.
