By Jeff Toquinto on August 13, 2018 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

The Bridgeport Police Department is asking for public assistance to help solve what is described as an older crime committed I the city.

Although the details are limited, police do have a pair of images they hope can assist in someone identifying the suspect. Multiple times in the past suspects have been identified for questioning that have led to arrests.

Bridgeport Police Officer Bart Sayers said the suspect in question is male. He is being looked at for shoplifting at a city business.

The incident took place on May 1 of this year at Gabriel’s. The afternoon shoplifting occurred at 4:26 p.m. and it’s believed a little less than $100 was taken, which is not a felony crime and barring past incidents involving the suspect if found guilty it would be limited to a first offense shoplifting charge.

If anyone has any information on who the suspect is or who they believe it might be, Sayers is asking the public to contact him. He can be reached 304-848-6125. If Sayers doesn’t answer, you are asked to leave a message with any information that may be helpful.

Sayers can also be reached by email. Individuals can email him at csayers@bridgeportwv.com.
