In the fall edition of WV Living Magazine and what that means it’s time for the magazine’s annual edition of “West Virginia’s Wonder Women.”

For the fourth year, the well-crafted magazine has selected women from across the Mountain State who doing what they can to make West Virginia a better place to live, work and play. And once again, Bridgeport is represented among the selections.

Among the 50 selections (some of which are groups), a familiar name and an equally familiar face to Bridgeport, Harrison County and North Central West Virginia was selected. Bridgeport resident Gretchen Ross is among this year’s honorees.

If the name sounds familiar there’s a good reason for it. Ross is the anchor for WBOY and has been with the Clarksburg-based station that serves North Central West Virginia and beyond since 2013.

Locally, Ross is a member of the Bridgeport Junior Woman’s Club. This year, she was named the club’s “Junior of the Year.” She earned the honor for working with the Harrison County Backpack program.

Along with being on the air and doing civic duties, Ross can also be found on stage. The magazine points out many roles she performs as well as the many groups – including Clarksburg’s Vintage Theatre Company spearheaded by Bridgeport High School alum Jason Young.

This isn’t the first time this year Ross has been honored. Earlier, she was one of three Harrison County residents recognized as young business leaders in West Virginia by being selected as part of the State Journal’s annual “Generation Next” 40 Under 40 list. The state publication selected 40 individuals under the age of 40, or 40, making a positive impact on the business climate of West Virginia.

WV Living Magazine can be purchased at the Meadowbrook Mall at Books-A-Million.
