Bridgeport's Main Street Corridor Adds Another New Business as Atlas Technologies Opens its Doors

In the business world, sometimes bad situations end up working out for the better. A case in point may involve one of Bridgeport’s newest businesses – Atlas Technologies.

It was just a few months ago that owner Doug Hatfield was getting his start in a location in Bridgeport with his PC and networking solutions company that specializes in IT work. But, there was a problem.

“That building was bigger and also was more to rent, but the issue involved tenants in apartments upstairs. There was a pipe from the upstairs that on multiple occasions had issues that flooded us out,” said Hatfield. “As you know, water and electronics don’t mix so we had to find a new home.”

That new home is on Main Street – U.S. Route 50 – in Bridgeport. The address is 921 West Main Street and is situated in the same plaza as the DePolo Law Office and across the street from Wilson Martino Dental.

“There’s nothing above us in this building, which eliminated the issue of getting a water leak from an upstairs tenant,” said Hatfield. “It’s a little smaller, but we’ll do better here because 90 percent of our business will have us outside of the office.”

According to Hatfield, the bulk of the business will focus on working for businesses. Hatfield said Atlas Technologies will focus on any type of IT work for businesses including setting up and building networks, as well as maintaining, fixing, building and repairing computers.

“If it involves any type of technology, we’re able to address any issues,” said Hatfield. “Although we’re not really an iPhone type of repair shop, we can do that as well.”

Atlas Technologies already have some clients on their list, including a municipal government. Hatfield said there’s plenty of room to grow.

Hatfield said he got his start in the oil and gas industry by building computer networks for companies in that field. Now, he’s hoping to work with businesses in any field and currently has one other employee – James Mick – on board to assist.

“We plan on growing. We have three others that we hope to have on board soon,” said Hatfield.

The company, which is already open, will have a formal grand opening and ribbon cutting event this Thursday – Oct. 15 – at 10 a.m. If you want to learn more about the company or become a client, call Hatfield and Atlas Technologies at 304-841-7288.
