Building Permit in Excess of $1 Million Issued for New Business Set to Call White Oaks its Future Home

As promised, the newest addition to the White Oaks development is on the fast track for completion. And work is already in full throttle.

For those wondering what’s taking place at White Oaks across the intersection from Tenmile Land, the future home of The Dyer Insurance Group is going up. The work on the actual structure of the building began after a building permit was recently acquired at the Bridgeport Municipal Complex.

According to Bridgeport Community Development Director Andrea Kerr, a permit was issued April 23 for $1,050,000. The permit fee cost $7,950.

The permit lists the contractor as City Construction and has the architect at The Thrasher Group. Kerr said the plans call for a 5,000 square foot, one story building.

“They are moving fast,” said Kerr. “(City Construction’s) Beau Henderson hit the ground running with this project. They have been working consistently every day since the grading work was complete.”

On March 29, officials with Dyer obtained a grading permit from the city. That permit was for $200,000 and puts the total project cost to date – not counting amenities added inside – at a little more than $1.2 million.

In an April story on Connect-Bridgeport, Company President Adam Dyer said he hopes the building will be completed and occupied before the end of the calendar year. He said roughly 15 people will work out of the building, which is being designed for additional growth.

The Dyer Insurance Group is one of the oldest companies in the region. The Clarksburg-based business has been in operation since 1896.

What does it offer?

Adam Dyer described it as a full-service, independent insurance agency. He said it offers every type of insurance you can buy.

“We do everything from customizing large, specialized insurance programs for major corporate clients to writing home, auto and all personal lines of coverages,” he said. “We do bonding of all types and employee benefits for businesses of any size. We offer the full scope of services.”

Kerr said she’s thrilled to see things moving fast. She expects more in the future but added this is a great addition to the thriving business park.

“White Oaks has done a fantastic job of adding businesses to their park, this time with a well-established insurance company,” she said. “The development is becoming a one stop shop location. “You can find just about any type of business you need between the points you enter and exit the park.”
