A Wednesday fire in an area just outside Bridgeport city limits resulted in the total loss of a structure, according to Fire Chief Phil Hart.

The call went out on the Harrison County 911 emergency log at 3:03 a.m. on Trails End Road in Green Valley. Hart said it was an outbuilding, or garage type structure, in the area that is the Auburn Hills Development.

“It was a complete loss, including all the contents,” said Hart, who was not on the scene of the early morning blaze. “The tractor, the lawn mower and everything that was in there was destroyed."

Hart said there were on injuries related to the early-morning fire. He also added that the fire was contained to the structure in question.

“The emergency crews on hand were able to make sure that it didn’t extend to any of the residential units nearby,” said Hart.

As is often the case with structure fires, in this case the garage or outbuilding type of structure, mutual aid agencies responded. Although the area is in Bridgeport’s first due area of service, it received assistance from several others.

The Nutter Fort and Fleming Volunteer Fire Departments both responded. The Anmoore EMS was also on the scene in the event of any injuries.

“Mutual aid works to make sure you have enough personnel and that work can be done safely and in a timely fashion,” said Hart.

Bridgeport also assists other communities as part of the reciprocal mutual aid agreements that have been in place for years.
