City Board Considering Placing Industrial Property it Owns Up for Sale; 3.14 Acre Lot has Utility Access

For those looking to purchase some land that is allowed to host industrial use in the city limits of Bridgeport, the future may have a new opportunity. At last week’s Bridgeport Development Authority meeting, the group opted to consider putting a parcel of property up for sale.

“The Bridgeport Development Authority actually owns property in the city and they asked me to look at some of those parcels that may be best to be put up for sale,” said Community Development Director Andrea Kerr. “If we don’t need to hold on to the property, or have a reason to, the Authority believes it’s not good to hold on to it because their job is to promote growth so holding on to property doesn’t make sense.”

A parcel that may soon be up for sale sits on Marcellus Way. For those that aren’t familiar with that name, it’s property that sits a distance from the main part of the city off of Meadowbrook Road.

“The group gave me the authority to get an appraisal done on the property in order to put it up for sale,” said Kerr.

Kerr said if you’re heading away from the city on Meadowbrook Road, it’s past Pete Dye and near the Tuboscope business. The site cover 3.14 acres.

“It’s right on Marcellus Way and just off of Meadowbrook Road. There’s nothing on the property; it’s vacant,” said Kerr. “Any utilities that would need to be brought to the site would not be a problem. Utilities would be easily accessible.”

Kerr said nothing will be final until the appraisal is completed and until the Development Authority makes an official action. That will come at a meeting time that has not yet been scheduled. Kerr did say if anyone had any inquiries about the property they could contact her office at 304-842-8209.
