Although the official request has yet to be placed on Bridgeport City Council agenda, it appears as if more land will soon be part of the municipal borders. According to Bridgeport Community Development Director Andrea Kerr there should be a pair of annexations adding dozens of acres to the city limits.

On Monday, Kerr told the Bridgeport Development Authority of two annexations that were in the works. The total land that will be added is 75.26 acres.

Kerr did not disclose who was looking at the annexations. However, one of the annexations would be on Platinum Drive, while the other would be on Lodgeville Road.

The annexation on Platinum Drive would comprise of 45.26 acres. The other annexation would be along Lodgeville Road and would be for 30 acres.

“It’s a lot of acreage,” said Kerr. “One of the city’s long-term goals is to continue annexing property into the city. This fits right into line with what we’re trying to do long-term and we anticipate the annexations to be complete by the first half of the year.”

The Platinum Drive property is closer to Route 50. Kerr said it will consist primarily of up to 22 residential lots with some commercial activity possible.

As for the acreage on Lodgeville, Kerr said it will definitely be mixed use if annexed. The area will be below WDTV and in an area not too far from the Jenkins Subaru and Hyundai. The developer in question is looking at the possibility of a hotel, restaurants, self-storage units and perhaps a car dealership along with multi-family residential units.

“It’s good to see we’re still in growth mode,” said Kerr. “This bodes well for the city.”
