Connect-Bridgeport Presents "Our Time;" a Short Film Recognizing the '12 Football Seniors

By Jeff Toquinto on October 05, 2012 via Connect-Bridgeport.com

When Jason Adams of Dream on Creative was putting together the short film “Our Time” for release on Connect-Bridgeport.com, it wasn’t a return to watch the high school team of his alma mater up close and personal once again. It was actually the very first time that Adams had actually watched the nuances of the Bridgeport High School football program.

Despite being a member of the BHS band and playing on the drum line for former director John Christian, Adams’ attention was on the music as opposed to the game. It would prove to be 13 years after graduating that Adams experienced Bridgeport High School football and the tradition that surrounds it for the initial time.

“I am not much of a sports guy. Growing up Rock N Roll captured my attention well before sports and by the time High School came around I was already out playing shows so my time was limited and affections placed with music … For the first time I got to experience what I was so quick to dismiss in my youth as just another Friday night,” Adams said. “I was really caught up in the pride the community holds for this game. I realized that on Friday nights the whole town comes together and they seem to lay their hopes, dreams, and fond memories upon the shoulders of a group of young men that have come to do more than play a game. They have come to be a part of tradition. That was the story that caught my attention.”

Adams was contracted by Connect-Bridgeport to produce the short film. It is being released today as recognition for the Class of 2012 seniors during their final home game tonight at Wayne Jamison Field. Adams’ story came about without a script, and we hope you will enjoy it.

“I was not sure what my story or point of view would be. After experiencing the game the story was clear. This is more than a game. It is a tradition, shared by generations of Bridgeport residents,” Adams said. “The excitement of the students, the pride of the Alumni; it was really remarkable and I tried to capture that emotion and pride in my short film.”
