It’s one of the most recognizable business names in Bridgeport and it’s owned and operated by two of the most well-known names in Bridgeport. Last week, that business quietly opened their first satellite location.

 

According to co-owner Jack Spatafore, Bridgeport Physical Therapy is up and running at its new White Oaks location.

 

“We did a soft opening for staff that came from the main office on Monday and Tuesday of last week and then we had patients on Wednesday (Jan. 23) for the first time last week,” said Spatafore. “We’re ready to go.”

 

The business is situated Retail Village Building 2 at White Oaks, which is the structure directly across from Retail Building 1 that houses Bonnie Belle’s, Cody’s, McFly Outdoors, The Oaks Salon, Hermosilla’s Deli and Rominger Dental. Building 2 houses Elegant Nails and Starbucks and still has at least one more space to be filled.

 

So how are things going a little more than a week into the new venture?

 

“Things have gone well. I feel good about it. We’re still just a few days in and we felt we had prepared everything to be ready and that worked out too,” said Spatafore. “I think I’m over the initial anxiety and now I’m feeling pretty good this is the right time and place to do the new location. I’m feeling positive about that.”

 

Spatafore said the business activity has been crisp in the early going. He said he’s already received positive feedback from those who come to Bridgeport Physical Therapy that may not be located conveniently to the original location just off Main Street and Virginia Avenue in the downtown area of the city.

 

“It’s just more convenient and easier for people who aren’t in the heart of Bridgeport. We have a pretty good radius of clientele 20 to 30 minutes or even further from the downtown location,” said Spatafore. “For those individuals coming by way of the interstate, it’s pretty easy to access.”

 

Currently, Spatafore said there are three staff members – including himself – working out of the new location. Co-owner Mike Martin will maintain his presence at the downtown Bridgeport facility, which offers some services not available at the new site.

 

“We may add people as early as next week. What I can tell you for sure is we fully expect to grow our staff here,” said Spatafore.

 

The new building space covers 2,000 square feet. The location off of Main Street is roughly 8,000 square feet.

 

The hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Spatafore said they are looking at leaning toward hours a little later in the evening for a couple of days each week, but that decision has yet to be made.
