Field Finalized, Ballot Order Set as All Ducks Now in a Row for Bridgeport's June 13 Municipal Election

A trio of questions involving the City of Bridgeport’s upcoming municipal election have seen a few answers in recent days. On Friday, it was determined who the official field for the race will be in the 2017 election.

By 4 p.m. Friday, when the deadline arrived for filing for a seat on Council, no one showed up at the office of City Clerk Andrea Kerr. Kerr said individuals needed to be at her desk and present her with the $25 filing fee by 4 p.m. to be eligible. No one showed up.

What that means is the field is set. The race for mayor will involve two individuals. Current City Council member Diana Marra will face off against political newcomer Andy Lang.

The race for three seats on Council is also set. Incumbents John Wilson, Dustin Vincent and Current Mayor Robert “Bob” Greer will be joined by another political newcomer in Kerry Hess.

While the question of who will run was answered Friday, the question of where those names will appear on the ballot was answered Monday morning. At 8 a.m. a special City Council meeting was held for the purpose of doing the ballot drawing. It was the only item on the agenda.

The order of the names running for Council area Vincent, Greer, Wilson and Hess. The order of the names for the position of mayor will be Lang followed by Marra.

While that takes care of two questions, the answer to the final question is still several months away and will be determined by Bridgeport residents. Who will sit in the three Council seats and who will serve as mayor for the next four years?

The answer will come in June. This year’s Bridgeport City Election will be held Tuesday June 13.
